About Us

The Friends of the Embry Hills Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the state of Georgia. We are not part of the Embry Hills Branch or the DeKalb County Public Library system.

Our purpose is to support the Embry Hills Library through fundraising, donations, and volunteer efforts. We help provide resources for the library’s book and media collection, library programming, and the library building and grounds.

The Friends was founded in 2011.

What We Do

The Friends of Embry Hills Library is a volunteer group separate from the library branch that helps support the library. Because the library’s budget cannot cover all needs, the Friends raise money to help pay for community programs, books and media. If you’d like to get involved, you can join the Friends, volunteer your time, or support our fundraising efforts.

How We Spend the Funds We Raise

The Friends raise funds through memberships, donations, book sales, and sales of ear buds, tote bags, and USB drives.

These funds are used to:

  • Buy books and other media for the library

  • Provide supplies for flowers and landscaping

  • Purchase cleaning supplies for public restrooms

  • Support library programs

  • Support training for library staff

  • Offer annual recognition for staff

  • Purchase supplies needed for Friends’ fundraising activities
