  • Friends groups support their local library branches by promoting the library, raising money, and volunteering their time so that the library can provide strong programs, services, and materials.

  • Embry Hills Library is part of the DeKalb County Public Library system. The Friends of Embry Hills Library is a separate nonprofit group that raises money and volunteers time to support the Embry Hills Library.

  • Because the library has a limited budget, the Friends help provide things the regular budget doesn’t always cover, such as programs, staff training, landscaping flowers outside in season, and additional books and materials.

  • You can join the Friends by paying for an annual membership on this website on the Become A Friend page. You can also fill out a form to join when you are at the library-- just ask at the Circulation desk. You can join for as little as $5 a year.

  • Visit our Volunteer page or tell us when you fill out the pen-and-paper membership form what kind of volunteer work you would like to do, and we will get in touch with you. Also, all are welcome to attend our quarterly membership meetings, and you may find more ways to get involved there.

  • You get the satisfaction of supporting your local library and helping it thrive. We will also notify you of Friends events.

  • Yes. You can donate when you become a member, on the donation page, or at any Friends event. We appreciate the generosity of Friends and neighbors!

  • Yes. You may fill out a suggestion form for a book or other types of library materials at the circulation desk.

  • Yes. We have book sales on the fourth Saturday of each month, January through October from 10 AM - 2 PM.

  • Yes. We also sell CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, videotapes, games, puzzles, and magazines.

  • Yes. You can bring them to the Embry Hills Library during open hours and let the staff at the circulation desk know you have a donation.

  • We accept all kinds of books, for both children and adults. Please make sure that the books that you donate are in good condition, with intact spines, few tears or stains, and no mold or pests.

  • Yes. You may also donate CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, videotapes, games, puzzles, and magazines. Please check that these items are complete before donating them.

  • Books that aren’t sold may go to used-book sellers or be donated to charity.

  • The Friends of the Embry Hills Library is a nonprofit 501c3 organization, so your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for charitable contributions unless specifically noted.

  • The Friends uses the money we make from book sales and memberships to support the Embry Hills Library’s programs, staff training, landscaping flowers outside in season, and new books and materials for the library.
